The UILions Invitational Academic meet was held on Saturday, February 10 at Livingston High School. Over 300 students from eighteen schools participated in twenty different events. Event Coordinator Sarah Ege attributed the success of the event to all of the campus volunteers, “We have so many teachers that give of their time to allow LHS to have such a successful competition. Our Culinary teacher Kristi Gann ran our hospitality room and Bette Smith was in charge of our concession stand. Even our community partners were involved with First Baptist Church providing breakfast for the workers and participants.”
Livingston High School results from UILions were: Melco Rodriguez- 1st Computer Applications, Vilay Myers- 6th Prose, Coral Leitzell- 2nd place Spelling, Gardenia Hernandez- 5th place Poetry, Jorginah Murphy- 4th place Prose, Maise Cherry- 4th place LD Debate, Jack Pedigo- 3rd place Persuasive speaking and 4th place Feature Writing, Sebastian Garcia- 6th place Number Sense, Penelope Miller- 5th place Science, Darianne Curran- 5th place Poetry, Garrett Jones- 2nd place Computer Applications, Nicholas Arredondo- 3rd place Computer Applications, Jacob Riley- 5th place Social Studies, James Severance- 5th place Number Sense , Zoe McDowell- 2nd place Ready Writing.
