MAX SCHLOTTER SCHOLARSHIP

The Max W. Capital Farm Credit Scholarship Program

$2000 scholarship available for eligible 2019 graduates from qulaifying districts.  Must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, in addition to a minimum 1050 SAT score or minimum 20 ACT score. The appl.icant's family must be a current member of the Polk County Farm Bureau and plan to pursue a degree in some form of agriculture. Applications were sent in an email to the Class of 2019 and are available from the LHS Lead Academic Advisor.  DUE:  March 2 of applying year.

LHS GREEN AND WHITE SCHOLARSHIPS 

Applications were distributed on November 8, 2018 during Lion Time to each Senior.  A parent meeting was held that evening at 5:30 in the high school library to answer any questions regarding Green and White Scholarships.DUE:  December 13, 2018.

POLK COUNTY AREA GO-TEXAN SCHOLARSHIP

DUNBAR ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

The Dunbar Alumni Association awards scholarships to eligible students who have had a family member that attended Dunbar High School at any time through the end of May 1968. The applications are available in the LHS Academic Advising Office.  DUE:  February 27, 2019.

TEXAS FARM BUREAU SCHOLARSHIP

The J. E. Seamans Memorial Scholarship is available from Farm Bureau to applicants whose family is a member of Polk County Farm Bureau and plans to pursue a degree in some form of Agriculture.  Applications were sent in an email to the Class of 2019 and are available from the LHS Lead Academic Advisor.  DUE:  March 1, 2019.

Texas Student Houstin Authority’s academic scholarships are limited to students attending college in Austin, College Station, or Denton, TX.  Applications were emailed to the Class of 2019 and also are available in the LHS Academic Advising Office. SAM HOUSTON ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE SCHOLARSHIP (SHEECO)

The recipient must be a graduating high school senior whose parents/legal guardians are active members of Sam Houston Electric Cooperative, Inc.  Applications were emailed to the Class of 2019 and also are available in the LHS Academic Advising Department.  DUE:  February 4, 2019.

EASTEX TELEPHONE COOPERATIVE, INC EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

TEXAS INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE FOUNDATION (TILF)

The TILF is a non-profit organization that solicits and disburses scholarships to deserving UIL Academic particpants.  The basic requirements are that a student must compete at the stae level in an UIL academic contest AND must plan to a Texas college of university.  Applications will be accepted via the TILF website (www.tilfoundation.org) from March 1, 2019 – May 10, 2019.

TERRY FOUNDATION

The Terry Freshman Scholarship, known as the Terry Traditional Scholarship, is awarded to Texas high school seniors who have been accepted for admission to one of the Terry-affiliated public universities in Texas. Affiliated schools include the following:  The University of Texas- Austin, Texas A&M University, University of Houston, Texas State University, The University of Texas- Dallas, The University of Texas- San Antonio, Texas Tech University, University of North Texas, Texas Woman’s University, Texas A&M University- Galveston, Sam Houston State University, The University of Texas- Arlington and The University of Texas- El Paso. Applications for the Terry Transfer Scholarship are available only from the universities and are not available from the Foundation or from high schools.https://terryfoundation.org/future-scholars/freshman-scholarship/

LIVINGSTON FFA BOOSTER CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

The Livingston FFA Booster Club Scholarship application packet can be picked up in the Academic Advising Office.

All applicants must be a graduating senior who has been accepted into a college/university/technical school and plans to attend within one year of graduation.  Applicants must have been a paid FFA member for at least 3 years in high school.  See application for additional requirements.

DUCKS UNLIMITED SCHOLARSHIP

Ducks Unlimited (DU) will award college scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are members of DU. The scholarship program is open to all students; however, it is targeted to volunteers who have shown an exceptional level of commitment to wetlands conservation through participation in their high school club or chapter. In addition, students must maintain a 3.0 or higher cumulative high school GPA. www.ducks.org

SMITH – HUTSON SCHOLARSHIP

Incoming freshmen with established financial need and academic potential are encouraged to apply for the Smith-Hutson Scholarship.  This scholarship provides a portion of tuition, fees, books, supplies and on- campus room and board. The Smith-Hutson Scholarship Application will be available on December 1st, 2018. The application will be complete upon the receipt of (1) completed online application in myScholarships; (2) high school transcript; (3) financial need documentation (Copy of the Student Aid Report from the 2018-2019 Free Application for Federal Student Aid); (4) an essay describing career goals; and (5) two letters of recommendation. The deadline to complete the online application and submit all of the required documentation is March 15, 2019.  For more information, contact the Scholarship Office at your chosen post secondary college/university to inquire if that school is affiliated with the Smith-Hutson Scholarship Program.

VOICE OF DEMOCRACY

Scholarships are available for students in grades 9-12.  Students compete for scholarships by writing and recording an audio essay on an annual patriotic theme. Theme for this year is “ Why My Vote Matters”.

Association for Migrant Educators of Texas - High School

Scholarship amounts are determined by the AMET Scholarship Committee on the basis of background in migrant farm work, financial need, and the academic potential of the youth.

Three (3) scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded annually to college undergraduate students and twelve scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded annually to entering freshmen. Scholarship funds are to be used to support the cost of higher education by covering unmet student financial and self-help aid. Scholarships disbursed are not payment for students' services. Scholarship recipients may reapply annually to be considered for an undergraduate award.

Albert Lee Wright, Jr. Memorial Migrant Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to honor a migratory farmworker or fishing student who has overcome barriers presented by mobility, has performed well academically, and who has provided service to his/her community.

Lydia M. Pena-Delgado Scholarship Program

Scholarship amounts are determined by the Lydia M. Peña-Delgado Scholarship Committee on the basis of background in migrant farm work and the academic potential of the youth. Two scholarships of $1000 will be awarded. Scholarship funds are to be used for tuition and fees required for enrollment or attendance at an educational institution, or for books, supplies, and equipment required for courses of instruction. Scholarships dispersed may not be used for payment of students' services.
