Graduation Ceremony Questions & Answers
LHS Principal Dr. Paul Drake answers questions about the Livingston High School Graduation Ceremony to be held on Saturday, June 2, 10:00 a.m. in the Competition Gym. Drake said, “Surveys were conducted in the fall and committee meetings were held, and feedback was given to make the ceremony the best possible memory for the graduates and families. To be sure that parents are able to sit in the gym during the ceremony a ticket system was put into place.” Tickets for the graduation ceremony will be distributed to the participating graduates during their practice on Thursday, May 31.
Are you required to have a ticket to attend the ceremony?
No, but those with tickets will be allowed to enter the school first. There will be 8 tickets distributed to each graduating senior during Graduation Practice on Thursday, May 31, 2:00 p.m. This practice is mandatory for all participants. There are 250 seniors participating in the ceremony which will equal 2,000 tickets. You will give your ticket to the usher at the entry of the gymnasium. A ticket stub will be provided if you need to leave the gymnasium before the ceremony begins. No one will be allowed to enter the gymnasium once the ceremony begins. The City Fire Marshal will allow a total of 2,269 people in the gymnasium during the ceremony. The overflow will be able to watch a live stream in the cafeteria and there will also be a Facebook Live stream available.
Can we send one family member early to save seats?
No, we are not allowing seats to be saved.
What time do we need to be at the High School for the Graduation Ceremony?
The doors will open at 8:15 a.m. for ticket holders. There will be two lines - one line for ticket holders and one line for non-ticket holders. The non-ticket holders will be able to enter the building at 9:30 a.m. Graduating seniors participating in the ceremony will need to meet at the Livingston Junior High campus. A faculty member will be waiting at the junior high campus at 6:30 a.m. and will remain at the campus through the end of the ceremony. Seniors will ride buses from the LJH campus to the LHS campus for the ceremony. Seniors wishing to take the bus back to LJH after the ceremony will need to be on the bus 45 minutes after the completion of the ceremony.
Will there be handicapped parking?
Yes, the handicapped parking area is across from the Field House. (see parking diagram on the school website - livingstonisd.com) Golf carts will be used to pick up passengers arriving in the handicapped parking lot and will transport them to the entrance. Those not able to stand in line will be able to gain entrance to wait in the cafeteria until the doors of the gymnasium are opened.
Will we be able to hear during the ceremony?
Sound engineers have been hired to provide the best possible sound system for the ceremony.
Can we bring signs, balloons, and noisemakers to the ceremony?
No, signs and balloons can block the view of others attending the ceremony and noisemakers can be a disruption during the ceremony. Therefore, these items are prohibited during the ceremony.
